Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) to drive more search engine traffic to your website
I’ve been working with the search engines since 2000, which is virtually considered the dawn of time within this industry. There have been many changes, but the fundamentals haven’t changed and the same good practices work just as well now as they did way back when.
I plan all my SEO work around websites analytics, usually providing a monthly web stats report for clients based on their own business KPIs to ensure the website is constantly working entirely in unison with other marketing activities. Working without analytics is like running a website blindfolded when all your competitors have 20/20 vision; it’s vital to use this invaluable marketing information to the full. This approach also means that all SEO investment, both time and money, can be monitored and measured, accurately and consistently.
I believe in building long-term visibility that’s resilient to changes in the way search engines decide their listings, i.e. with no quick fixes or tricks, but solid SEO that’s always ethical (white hat) and in accordance with search engine guidelines.
I like to start by assessing how well a website is performing in terms of its search engine visibility and I always look to see if there are any fundamental technical issues that need addressing first. I then develop a long-term action plan that encourages clients to carry out as much of the work in-house as they want with the resources to do so. This often leads to a business relationship based around training and mentoring, whereas some of my clients prefer to outsource their SEO needs more completely.
I endeavour to make my clients as knowledgeable as they want to be about SEO and provide training on ad hoc basis or in the more formal setting of training courses held at venues in and around the New Forest. I’m also happy to provide formal training on-site for clients when this is appropriate.
The best results in building good online visibility for a website are always achieved by developing a long-term partnership between the SEO expert and those at the sharp end of the business who best know the products and services offered. As with any form of marketing, SEO is never finished but remains an ongoing process.
